L-arginín je dôležitý pre reguláciu prietoku krvi a hladinu oxidu dusnatého. Orálne užívanie však u ľudí nedokáže účinne zlepšiť prietok krvi.
Užívanie
Zvyčajná predtréningová dávka je 3-6 g L-arginínu. Aby sa počas dňa zachovala zvýšená hladina arginínu, môže sa užívať až 3x denne v celkovej dávke 15-18 g. Účinnejšie je ale užívanie L-citrulínu, ktorý udrží zvýšenú hladinu arginínu počas dlhého obdobia. Jednorázové užitie viac ako 10 g arginínu môže spôsobiť gastrointestinálne ťažkosti a hnačku.
